Gears

The general definition of gears is a set of toothed wheels which alter the speed relationship between the driving force, as in the pedals of a bicycle for example, and the driven wheels.

In watches the gears are formed of a wheel whose teeth mesh with the leaves (teeth) of a pinion. This system transmits the power and motion which makes it possible for the watch to operate correctly.
