Geneva Seal

The Geneva Seal is the Watchmaking School of Geneva’s seal of excellence and it has an official function as stated by the law. It was created in 1866 to protect Geneva watchmaking following the prevalent mis-use of the Geneva name.

The seal guarantees that the watch movement was made in the City, or Canton of Geneva. It is also awarded to watches for their finishing and decoration of the watch movement, however precision testing is also an option in the inspection process. It is considered a high honor in watchmaking.

Geneva brands such as Cartier, Chopard, Roger Dubuis and Vacheron & Constantin regularly submit their movements for the Geneva Seal certification.
