Water Clock

The water clock is one of the oldest time measuring methods and were often used by the the Egyptian and Chinese civilizations during the 16th century BC.

It is also called a clepsydra. The time is determined by the flow of a liquid, typically water or mercury, into a container. As they developed ones equipped with a float and pointer were combined with a calibrated dial appeared.
